LED lighting for Parklea Hub, Port Glasgow
The Parklea Hub located in Port Glasgow has been built to support the activities of the Parklea Branching Out.
The organisation offers a variety of training opportunities, work experience, supported employment and recreational and social facilities. These services are aimed at clients with learning and or physical disabilities or mental health problems, school leavers, long-term unemployed and elderly people and local community groups.
The new building offers a café, a community meeting space and a multipurpose area designed for volunteer work and training activities.
Architecturally the building comprises a column and dendriform canopy grid which creates a sculptural soffit internally and an external covered space.
The main interior areas are illuminated by recessed LED downlights providing a uniform and comfortable level of general lighting. Decorative LED pendant lights are used to highlight the café counter, while wall mounted adjustable LED spotlights provide focused accent lighting.
Externally the access doors are lit with architectural LED wall lights, and the feature canopy is further enhanced through integrated lighting elements. Floor recessed uplights illuminate the dendriform structure emphasizing its sculptural form and creating a dramatic play of light and shadow during dark time.
