Industrial LED Lighting
Durable, energy-efficient LEDs, perfect for harsh environments and ATEX-certified areas.
Since the 1930s
Traditional lamp sources which dominated the industrial market will be phased out by Spring 2024. Many lamp manufacturers, such as Philips, discontinued low pressure sodium (LPS) and high pressure sodium lamps (HPS) some years ago.
The lamps served their purpose, however, the birth of LED technology changed the dynamics for sustainable, industrial lighting.
The transition to solid state lighting is particularly successful in heavy industry. Vibration caused old lamp technology to have a short life span where LED does not suffer this and performs brilliantly in harsh environments. The vastly improved lumen packages allow installations of LED luminaires up to 30 meters high with 80,000 hour life expectancy which plant maintenance teams view as a wonderful accomplishment for industry.
New tech lighting arrives
LED offers instant illumination which is a major benefit as conventional sodium lamps took 3-4 minutes to achieve full brightness. Also being omnidirectional on 360 degrees proved very inefficient. LED emits light directionally over 180 degrees ensuring 100% downward light.
LED luminaires are easier to install due to their lightweight design, and boast superior colour rendering, significantly enhancing the quality of light.
By opting for LED, energy consumption and carbon footprint are notably reduced. The durability of LED vs sodium or metal halide lamps result in no breakages and vast stock reduction on the shelves in maintenance stores, contributing to lifetime cost savings of 70-80%. Furthermore, the ability to use lighting controls amplifies these cost savings. LED also offers increased warranty periods, underscoring their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
ATEX Lighting
When clients require intrinsically safe lighting solutions, NJS stands ready to provide world-class LED options that meet these critical demands.
The applications vary from chemical plants, mines, oil refineries, tankers, sewerage plants, distilleries, and paint shops. Any explosive atmosphere requires ATEX lighting fixtures with emphasis on keeping all employees working in these locations safe.
ATEX is the European certification applied to luminaires which have been tested to be intrinsically safe. The Hazlite atex luminaire choice is complemented by a large range of accessories for the off shore and heavy industrial markets. This includes intrinsically safe junction boxes, control stations, glands and signalling equipment.
